Plantation Day Celebrated at Government Polytechnic Institute Chilmish Das, Gilgit

Gilgit, Government Polytechnic Institute Chilmish Das, Gilgit, celebrated Plantation Day with enthusiasm, reinforcing its commitment to a greener environment. The event was attended by Honorable Mr. Farid Ahmad the Secretary Higher, Technical, and Special Education GB, Mr. Owais Ahmad Director Technical & Special Education GB, Engr. Asim Ali Deputy Director TESD , GIZ representatives, faculty, and students.

As part of the Green Campus initiative, all Officials and students actively participated in tree planting to promote environmental awareness. The Secretary HT&SE Mr. Farid Ahmad highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering sustainability and encouraged students to maintain the trees.

Students enthusiastically took part in the plantation drive, concluding the event with a pledge to continue eco-friendly efforts. This initiative underscores the shared responsibility of institutions and Officials in promoting sustainable practices for a better future.

Peshawar, – Mr. Farid Ahmed, Secretary Higher, Technical, and Special Education Gilgit-Baltistan, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Center of Excellence in IT for Women for KP and GB, held at IM Sciences Peshawar.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister KP for Industries, Her Excellency Dr. Riina Kionka, Ambassador of the EU Mission for Pakistan, Secretary Higher Education KP, and other notable dignitaries from KP.

This EU-funded project, aimed at fostering digital empowerment, will be executed by the British Council in collaboration with the Higher, Technical, and Special Education Department GB. Under this initiative, three Center of Excellence Spokes will be established in Gilgit-Baltistan:

2.KIU Gilgit

3.GVTTC Diamer

The project will equip 1,500 youth from KP and GB with advanced and demand-driven digital and high-tech IT skills, with a special focus on empowering women.

This initiative marks a significant step toward fostering digital transformation, enhancing employability, and strengthening the technical education ecosystem in the region.
